Judith Lydia Mercure started writing during her childhood summers on a family homestead in Frenchtown, Montana. By the time she was 22, she was a keen traveler fascinated by the diversity of our planet.
She continued writing at desks in a Buddhist temple in rural Japan, in a canal house in Leiden, the Netherlands, in guesthouses in Bangkok, Thailand and in Victorian cottages in Australia.
Between drafts, she got great jobs that usually involved a lot more writing. Now a full-time writer living between Sydney, Australia and Gig Harbor, WA, USA, Judith Lydia’s stories are drawn from her love of our planet’s distinctive wildlife and her experience as a teacher, travel journalist, magazine editor, publisher, translator, and science marketing professional.
Judith has written many articles for national and international newspapers and magazines, one non-fiction and three fiction books. She is currently working on a Young Adults novel. You can read more about Judith’s latest work on www.judithlydiamercure.com.
BTW, for anyone who thinks they have too little time to write, Judith suggests keeping a journal. She has 41 volumes– and counting. Aspiring, but time-stressed, writers will probably get time one day to finally write up the story ideas they drafted when they were 16, 28, 35, 40 or 50. Not only are there gems of ideas in journals, but pages written years earlier may also become (sometimes humbling) reminders of the voices and values your characters have at different stages of life!
